As North Korea continues its ballistic missile and nuclear testing, the question of whether Japan should develop its own nuclear capability is being discussed in Japan as well as in other countries. At the same time, the Japanese Government has not changed its official stance that “It is not necessary to even ‘discuss’ (the need for) nuclear armament.” With the hope of drawing attention to this question, a university student has called for holding this session through crowd funding, and politicians and professionals from both Japan and the U.S. have been invited to discuss the topic.
