Dr. Koji Murata has served as president of Doshisha University from 2013 to 2015, Dean of the Faculty of Law and the Graduate School of Law at Doshisha University since 2011, and he has been a professor of political science since 2005. He previously taught on the Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences at Hiroshima University. Dr. Murata graduated from Doshisha University (Department of Political Science, Faculty of Law) in 1987, received a Master’s degree in political science from the Graduate School of Law at Kobe University in 1989, received a M.Phil. degree in political science from the George Washington University in the U.S. in 1995, and earned a Ph.D. in political science from the Graduate School of Law at Kobe University in 1998. Dr. Murata’s specialties include American foreign policy, the history of the U.S.-Japan alliance, and international security affairs in East Asia. He published the first biography of Ronald Reagan in Japanese.
