Gen Matsuda Gen Matsuda

Former Member of the House of Representatives.

Mr. Matsuda is head of the Matsuda Policy Research Institute, and a former Member of the House of Representatives. After graduating with a degree in economics from the University of Tokyo, he joined the Ministry of Finance. He then studied at the Institute of Socio-Economics at the University of Bonn. He retired from the Ministry of Finance and has held several prominent positions throughout his career including Sumoto Tax Commissioner, Director of the Inspection Department of the Osaka Regional Taxation Bureau, Planning Officer in the Minister's Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance, Professor at Tokyo Medical and Dental University, and Director of the Postal Savings and Simplified Life Insurance Management Organization. He ran in the 2012 general election for the House of Representatives as a member of the Japan Innovation Party. In 2016 he switched to the Liberal Democratic Party and in 2020 he formed a political organization, the Sansei Party, with Sohin Kamiya, Tsunekazu Shinohara, and others. He draws high expectations for his future work as a conservative politician.
